Self Image and Social Media

Does social media cause people to change their identity?

'Poser'

People like to appear more confident in their selfies. The classic red lip in this image for me is a great way to show that as girls feel a lot more confident when wearing makeup and the classic red lip gives the conatation of confidence.

'Disstortion'

Not everything you see on social media is real, in fact a lot of it can be quite fake and can be a distorted version of reality

can people begin to differentiate there online vs off-line self or is it now distorting into one? .

'Shhh'

Online, people feel like they can say whatever they want to and it has no effect. You sometimes wouldn’t say the things you say in comments on social media in real life, which is know as a ‘keyboard warrior’

As there is a kiss imprint it could also have the connotation of lip filler, which is what a lot of young girls may feel they need to do in order to look a certain way.

'Time to look good'

In the over stimulated, social media obsessed world we now live in, there is pressure everyday to look good

'A fragmented version of yourself'

On social media, a persona is created, whether your public self is close to your private self or a complete different person. Many people have a complete different persona/identity online that in ‘real life’. People only chose to show the good fragments of their lives on social media and not the bad.
